I've had this bread and it is delicious. However, last time I made it it did not rise. Make sure your yeast is not too old. I think that may have been the problem or I was in too big of a hurry.
ReplyDeleteThanks Polly
This blog makes my mouth water and my tummy growl! Everything sounds so yummy. Is the "Very warm" water critical to this recipe? I thought if the water was too hot it would kill the yeast.
ReplyDeleteShelley, the water shouldn't be boiling hot, just pretty warm to the touch. I always add a touch of sugar to help the yeast do it's thing. The yeast will bubble if it is still good. If it doesn't bubble, you will have Tammy's problem. The load should double in size. I always bubble my yeast up even if it is instant yeast, my mom doesn't.
ReplyDeleteI made it - and it worked great! We loved it for french toast too. It was so easy, but next time I'll let it rise more. I jumped the gun when it seemed to be getting so big and it was a little heavy. Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to try everything else.
